Scripture: 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 – “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.”

What it means

In Paul’s second letter to the church at Corinth, he begins to explain how we are supposed to be different than the rest of the world – kind of what we discussed in church on Sunday. When the world zigs, we’re supposed to zag – remember that sermon? 😊 Jesus has called us to be salt and light – agents of change in a very dark and corrupt world at times. And accordingly, when we are called to fight, or wage war as it were, we have different weapons at our disposal than what the world does. Remember David’s response to Goliath as he was mocking the young shepherd boy? “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” And, you know how well that worked out for Goliath!

What it means to me

Don’t misunderstand me, we’re not supposed to have free reign in asking God to smite all of our enemies just because we don’t like the way they treat us…doesn’t work like that. But just realize, when it appears that the bad guys are winning in the game of life, that it’s only the very beginning of the game. God eventually ends up leveling the playing field in favor of His children (you and I), so don’t get discouraged if you feel like you’re getting the short end of the stick. God hears you, and will eventually enlist the help of His Heavenly weapons to aid us – which happen to “have divine power to demolish strongholds.”

Love you guys, talk to you on Thursday!

In Christ,

Brian
