Scripture: 2 Corinthians 2:15 – “For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.”
What it means
I’m borrowing/stealing most of this from Dr. Tony Evans, lest any of you think I’m actually this clever 😊
“One day, a man was in line behind another man at the store. In the air, there was a beautiful aroma. He took a deep breath and figured out where the smell was coming from. ‘Excuse me, sir,’ he said to the man in front of him, ‘but you smell like roses.’
The second man smiled and said ‘Yes, I’m a florist. I stand in the flower shop all day, so I smell like the place where I hang out.”’
What it means to me
What about you? What do you smell like? Where do you hang out, spiritually? With whom do you hang out? When folks take a sniff of you, what are they going to smell? Because, if you’ve been in the presence of God, that aroma is going to rub off on you. Take another look at our scripture passage for today – and I ask again: What do you smell like?
If you are in the presence of God on a regular basis, then His love is going to waft out of you like it was always meant to – a beautiful aroma that people can’t help but notice. The question is: are you spending enough time with Him to let him rub off on you? Thankfully, for me…I hang out with each one of you pretty often, so I can’t help but smell like roses – thanks for that 😊
Love you, talk to you on Thursday!
In Christ,
Brian
